The Firstenburg Foundation gave Council for the Homeless a $36,000 grant, which will help at least 30 homeless families move into stable housing.
“The Firstenburg Foundation award allows us to help more of these vulnerable members of our community,” said Kate Budd, executive director of Council for the Homeless, in a news release. “We are grateful for their investment in this important and impactful work.”
Last year, the nonprofit’s Housing Relief Fund assisted 93 households. Private grants, like the one from the foundation, private donations, businesses and faith communities support the fund. Staff provide coaching and financial support to quickly stabilize homeless families. The Housing Relief Fund has gotten nearly 300 households into homes since it was created in 2015.
